Our October meeting was held as usual at the Panmure Arms Hotel on the second Tuesday of the month. The speaker was Denitsa Jacobsen (Dani) from Marykirk who spoke very entertainingly about her passion for beekeeping. Dani’s origins are the concrete jungle of Sofia, Bulgaria but she has lived in Scotland for 10 years. Her journey into beekeeping began in 2016 when she was needing extra pollination for the plants she was growing in a polytunnel. After extensive research, a beginners course in beekeeping and the Aberdeen & District Beekeeping Association beginners course she bought her first colony of bees. She has gone from strength to strength after passing her beekeeping course with distinction, establishing herself at local farmer’s markets as well as an online shop. Also on Facebook and Instagram.
We also celebrated two special birthdays, Olive Henry and Mildred McWilliam – both of whom were celebrating their 90th birthdays. Both are founder members of the Club, which was founded in 1985. Olive and Mildred have been very active within the Club for nearly 40 years. Flowers were presented to both.
Our next meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of November when the District Chairman will be the speaker.
