Laurencekirk Burns Appreciation Group held their Seventeenth Annual Burns Supper on Saturday 31st January in the New Mearns Academy Campus. The supper was chaired by Jim Brown, well known local raconteur and Burns enthusiast, along with the other guest speakers.
The haggis was piped in by Andrew Young and carried by Jackie Urquhart and was addressed to by Grant Wilson. The Immortal Memory was toasted to by Ian Bell who gave a great and informative talk on the life of Robert Burns, and how his work is appreciated throughout the world. Toast to the Lassies was by John Medlock and was replied to by Rosemary Reilly.
Throughout the well attended evening the guests were entertained with a variety of ballads and humorous songs from Alan Taylor from Aboyne, with musical entertainment from Bob Black on the accordion.
The evening was much appreciated by all who attended, thanks to the caliber of the speakers and the musical entertainment.
