Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action and Aberdeenshire Council are organising an event on this important piece of legislation which has the potential to transform the rights of communities and have a huge influence on the way public bodies work.
As well as making the taking over of public assets such as buildings and land more accessible for groups, it contains rights for communities to participate in the planning and commissioning of services at the highest level.
The event will take place on 16th June in the Dickson Hall in Laurencekirk from 9.30am to 2.30pm. There will be workshops led by the Scottish Government Community Empowerment Team and the Development Trust Association Scotland. There will also be a chance to take part on a live participatory budgeting session and find out what this means for communities. Booking is essential.
The Act was passed in the summer of 2015. At the moment consultation is taking place on guidance and regulations and it is expected to come into force later this year. This is a great opportunity for community groups, charities, public sector bodies and individuals to find out more about this legislation and what it means for them and their group.
