Kincardine and Mearns Citizens Advice Outreach Service, Laurencekirk:
Following the successful pilot of Kincardine and Mearns Citizens Advice Outreach service at Mearns Academy Community Campus, the Outreach services have moved to a permanent home in the Laurencekirk Healthcare Centre, Blackiemuir Avenue.
The outreach services provide an opportunity to bring our comprehensive, free, confidential and impartial advice service into the community. This means people don’t have to travel to access help, which itself can be difficult and costly to many living in the area.
Manager Jane Neilson-Adams confirmed the Outreach was able to be opened on a more permanent basis because of additional funding being made available from the European Social Fund and the Fairer Scotland Fund.
She said: “We are in a position to make a long-term commitment to the communities we serve throughout Kincardine and Mearns and we are keen to support and work with people and organisations in the area.”
Since moving to the Healthcare Centre our outreach services have become more central within the village, both geographically and as a part of community life. Numbers of people accessing the service have increased, although there is still capacity for that to increase further. Alongside this the Outreach service has a presence every other week at the Local Authority drop in job club run from Mearns Academy Community Campus on a Thursday Afternoon.
Laurencekirk’s Outreach Service can be accessed at Laurencekirk Medical Centre on Thursday mornings. Appointments can be made by phoning the Bureau on 01569 766578.
