On Friday afternoon, Councillor Isobel Davidson, chair of Aberdeenshire Education, Learning and Leisure committee welcomed Aberdeenshire’s Provost, Jill Webster and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Mike Russell to the Academy to perform the opening ceremony.
They addressed a select audience of politicians, councillors, council officers and community representatives acknowledging those who had contributed to the project and giving credit to the high achievements of staff and pupils in recent years. The guests were then guided on tours of the building by senior pupils.
A programme of sporting activities will continue over the weekend to give the public an opportunity to sample the new facilities.
