The campaign to provide a minibus in the Mearns moved forward in the last 2 weeks. A very successful coffee morning was held in the Masonic Hall, Laurencekirk, with £1,200.00 taken from the door and stall takings. In addition a further £1,000.00 was taken in donations on the day and over the previous few weeks. A very big thank you to all who attended, and to those people who supported the coffee morning with donations of goods and services, and those who volunteered on the morning. A special thank you to those who have made financial donations over the last few weeks.
A significant number of applications have been made to local and national funding agencies to source sufficient funds for the purchase of a new minibus.
As a result of these grant awards, and some significant donations from the local community, we are now heading towards a bank balance of approximately £34,000.00. This makes significant progress towards our target of £43,000.00 required to get a new minibus on the road. Beyond that figure the campaign to finance the operating and maintenance costs of the minibus will continue to ensure the successful operation of a minibus service throughout the Mearns.
The steering group committee would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way to the success so far and look forward to your continued support in the future to source a minibus for Mearns Minibus Link.
