The Den is a beautiful park nestling in the heart of Auchenblae, and is used by people of all ages, a variety of local groups, and lots of wildlife. The Den is unique in that it’s not owned by Aberdeenshire council, but instead maintained by the community. Auchenblae Parks Committee, with the help of volunteers, employees and public donations, keep The Den maintained and safe for use throughout the year.
There are two play parks at The Den, suitable for children of all ages, with a good selection of equipment including swings, slides, a rocking boat and a wooden climbing frame.
Local sports groups are catered for with outdoor tennis courts and a bowling green open during the summer. The tennis courts are also open to visitors.
There is plenty of space at The Den to explore on your own or with dogs. The beautiful woodland walk takes you along the side of the Luther Water burn, across bridges and past trees, coming to a spot where there was once a dam. There are picnic tables dotted about where you can sit and relax too.
As well as wildlife, there are clues to the whereabouts of other creatures that live in The Den…can you spot the little fairy doors?
During the summer season, there are toilet facilities in the Pavilion, in the centre of The Den.
The Den plays host throughout the summer to events such as the annual Gala Day and coffee mornings, held in the Pavilion. The Pavilion can also be hired for private events such as parties.
Auchenblae Den Committee, who are a registered Scottish charity, work hard behind the scenes to ensure that the park and its facilities are kept safe, clean and tidy for all. If you’d like to help them keep The Den as a wonderful local amenity, then there are two secure points at the car park and Pavilion where you can leave a donation.
You can get to The Den via Kintore Street in Auchenblae.
